CAPACITY - GRADUATE COLLECTION
During the 50s the womenswear became unconstraint, as fabric was no longer rationed. Capacity explores the volume of 50s fashion through the draping and structuring of heavy fabrics, as garments became larger and silhouette started to be explored and women became more versatile. The shapes throughout the collection have been directly influenced by the 50s swing coat, as well as taking inspiration from iconic collage artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Kurt Schwitters, for print and colour stimulus. Using imagery of family’s collections of household items to form a grid for collage to sit within. Exploring colour and print through silkscreen and digital print to produce striking textile designs that compliment the large silhouettes throughout the collection. Capacity AW 15/16 is a modern womenswear collection that celebrates colour and volume within contemporary design.
